A key standard of contemporary professional practice courses involves competency in evaluating and applying research findings in practice. This competency is often interpreted as developing such skills as information retrieval and critical appraisal. However, a research disposition also needs to be developed that will be sustained after graduation. Such a disposition when combined with clinical experience could promote innovative practice research and cultivate the dissemination of practice knowledge to the profession at large.
