Abstract
Australian water utilities spend $1.4 billion annually on water infrastructure. With many water utility assets approaching the end of their useful life the effective replacement of aging infrastructure presents a major challenge. Water main lining products are in use overseas, but have limited use in the Australian market. As part of the CRC-P Smart Linings Project, Monash University has developed a key online tool for the water sector that prioritises pipes, validates applicable liner types and determines the service life of the lined pipe. This will provide utilities with confidence in using these products to better service their customers.
