Viagem nos Jogos Olímpicos uma perspectiva histórica [A historical review of travel to the Olympic Games]

This investigation aimed at providing an understanding of the correlation between tourism/travel and the Olympic Games in order to clarify the meaning, importance and function of both of these typical activities in contemporary society. The origins of this presupposed relationship have been historically reviewed, beginning with ancient Greek society, the cradle of the Olympic Games. Also the means of and reasons for traveling in ancient times have been investigated in order to identify a possible relationship with present day tourism. This research focuses on the historical antecedents of these connections at the Olympic Games in particular.
