Abstract
This chapter describes the journey of a once-successful coach whose career took an unexpected turn due to mounting pressures in a high-stakes sports environment. Initially praised for his coaching skills, this narrative explores his challenges as his coaching career progressed, emphasizing the need for stress management and adaptability. The biopsychosocial impact of stress and burnout on coaches in general is examined, focusing on struggles with emotional dysregulation. Practical considerations for coaches are introduced, detailing interventions such as time management and mindfulness. The chapter underscores the significance of emotional regulation and resilience in coaching effectiveness. Reflective questions prompt readers to assess their experiences with stress and burnout, providing a basis for proactive intervention. The chapter invites readers to reflect on additional strategies for coaches to reclaim their identity and succeed in high-pressure sports coaching.
