The material in this chapter will assist to describe the social ecological approach to effective mental health nursing practice, identify the social determinants of mental health, describe the therapeutic relationships and how they are developed in the context of a person's mental health, describe the three components of empathy, and define self-awareness and describe a strategy for developing self-awareness.
