Abstract
This chapter examines how contemporary Chinese diaspora tour guides in Australia interpret and reconstruct the Chinese diaspora heritage of a particular heritage attraction to Chinese visitors. The chapter adopts a qualitative ethnographic approach with data collected through in-depth personal interviews and field observations. With an attempt to profile the socio-demographic characteristics of a group of Chinese diaspora tour guides in a heritage attraction, the chapter also examines how Chinese visitors participating in group tours attempt to deconstruct the Chinese diaspora heritage with the aid of guided interpretation. The findings inform the planning and delivery of interpretation and suggest avenues for further research on the interpretation of Chinese diaspora heritage.
