Today media studies occupy an increasingly strategic position within the academic curriculum. This new anthology of writings on film and television, all written during the 1980s, throws the net widely to include discussions of a variety of media from around the world. The book addresses the pressing questions of cultural identity, deals with a range of political and economical issues, and discusses the pleasures which film and television can provide. Taken together, these essays provide a challenging and stimulating view of contemporary media.
