Abstract
This chapter reports on Vietnam's early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector. It identifies the three sector institution types: nurseries for children aged 3 months to 36 months, kindergartens for children aged 3–6 years, and preschools that provide nursery and kindergarten education. It addresses policies being implemented to improve access and quality. Critical challenges in this regard include the geographic remoteness of some communities, the shortage of well-qualified teachers, and the need for more professional development opportunities.
