Abstract
The concept of cognitive distance and how it differs from real distance are discussed. The factors that influence the accuracy of estimates of cognitive distance are given. It explores the application of methods and analytical tools in studying cognitive distance in tourism settings. The article also examines the intercity estimates of distance made by visitors and residents in a tourist region in Australia.
