Abstract
Production and postproduction processes are often associated with the variety of operating conditions that affect the phase envelope of the system, whereas they crucially depend on controlling the present phases. Thus, calculating equilibrium conditions of multicomponent systems seems essential. In this manner, the present chapter begins with a brief introduction to the phase-equilibrium concept followed by flash calculations and most common methods for fining equilibrium coefficient including ideal concepts, fugacity-derived coefficients, activity derived coefficients, and correlations. Then the bubble-point and dew-point calculations will be presented and discussed with comprehensive examples. Afterward, the subject of stability analysis will be discussed through Gibbs energy surface to answer if a mixture actually forms two or more equilibrated phases or remains as a stable single phase. The case of multiphase equilibrium will be considered and finding the saturation pressure by stability analysis is discussed.
