Abstract
Inactivity is now endemic. Yet physical activity has been part of human life throughout evolution with the environment “pushing” people to be active with subsequent feed forward to health. In contrast there is a “pull” necessary from the modern environment to achieve such ends. In this chapter a “generic” approach to exercise prescription is discussed under the 5 S’s (Stamina, Size, Suppleness, Strength, and Stability).
