Abstract
This chapter introduces the context for the various chapters in this book about the national education system in Vietnam. It reviews the country setting, the regulatory framework for the national education system, the distinctive features of each of the five sectors in the national education system, and a selection of significant challenges that have to be addressed by the national education system. The book's structure is explained, and its constituent chapters are briefly introduced.
